In Philip K. Dick’s vision of the future, as seen in the film Blade Runner, the androids have a built in failsafe mechanism that prevents them from living for longer than 4 years. PC World has coverage of a new Squaretrade report that says 1/3rd of all laptops fail within 3 years.
